This is the most popular style of Lolita Fashion. It started in 1997/1998. The clothes are usually black and white. Some may be navy or burgandy or another dark color. The makeup is usually dark. Black eyeliner is typical and a pale complexion,so sometimes white foundation might be used. Red or black lipstick is also used. Many GothLoli's carry around accessaries or props such as fans and plushies or something of that nature. Super Dollfies may also be carried around . Mana, the crossdressing former leader and guitarist of the band Malice Mizer is widely credited for having helped popularise Gothic Lolita. He started Elegant Gothic Lolita (EGL) and Elegant Gothic Aristocrat (EGA) to describe the style of his own fashion label Moi-même-Moitié.

This is a subcategory of Lolita fashion. It takes its main inspiration from Victorian girl's fashion. This style focuses on the child-like aspect of the fashion. It features pastels, gingham, lace and ribbons emphasizing cuteness. The colors are light pastels, black paired with white, also colourful prints with cute themes are widely used. The outfits worn are one pieces (a.k.a. dresses), jumper skirts, cutsews, blouses and skirts. The shoes worn usually have lower heels or are flast on the ground. This style is similar to the American Punk Style but with the Lolita style mixed in. It features plaids and prints and things like buckles, safety pins and chains. The tops usually worn are blouses and the bottoms are cutsews and skirts, though one pieces (dresses) and jumper skirts are also worn. The colors are black, white and red.
